And you think we've got problems?

I came across this, from today's Flint Journal -

VERNON, Michigan -- Vernon residents are balking at plans to raise residential sewer rates by more than 260 percent.

Residents in this tiny town currently pay $15/month for municipal sewer service. I guess that's a flat rate and not based on usage.

On April 1, their rates are scheduled to rise to $55 a month. New rates will vary for businesses, but some will see their bills quadruple.

So ... now we're not going to be upset if the Newburyport sewer rate goes back up to $6.25 per 100 cubic feet, are we? (It's $6.10 right now.) *ahem*

Not that I have any knowledge of anything such as that happening in FY2010 ... okay, so I do have some knowledge of something like that happening in FY2010.

I remember the days when increases in sewer rates had absolutely no effect on my life.

Oh how I yearn for those days of last year.
