And finally ...

Here's something City Clerk Richard Jones told both me and Katie Farrell about one day when we were both in his office:

He is asking that the Ward 2 polling place be moved from Brown School to the Program Room at the public library.

The letter says the request for change of venue came from the Superintendent of Schools.

Apparently all that civic action in progress was too much for the tots. (That's my interpretation, not anything Richard wrote in his letter.)

If the city clerk says no, maybe Lyons will just close the school to get the polling place out. He's good at that!

I am not too familiar with the particulars. However, as an educator, it is a problem to have your school open for an entire day to the public as a polling place. In our city, they have rearranged full-professional development days to coincide with election days. This allows the schools to be open as polling places without the worry of the public interacting with the school children.

If I'm not mistaken, election day is a professional day. I was attempting to be glib ... and I forgot about that ...
