Our farmers' market is in the top 10

Checking the list of the top 100 farmers' markets in the country at care2.com and ours is #9 with 273 votes.

Not a surprise to me, the Flint Farmers' Market is #1 with 1,107 votes.

So ... we can't let Flint beat us out, right? I mean, I know I used to live there and theirs is pretty awesome (or was, 20+ years ago), but still ... ours is pretty awesome, too.

They're way ahead, so if you haven't voted yet, do so right now by clicking here or on the link to our market in the list of top 100.

The winning market gets $5,000.

Another great day at the market

Or it could read, "Another gray day at the market."

I don't know if it's packed because of the awesomeness or because it's been rainy all 3 Sundays (so no one is going to be beach instead), but the Newburyport Farmers' Market just keeps getting bigger and better.

This week they had some young artisans, including 14-year-old Will Fox, who was tying and selling fishing flies and Samuel Day, who was creating origami.

Speaking of the farmers' market - Get out the Vote!!

Market organizer Shari Wilkinson reports that the market is number 17 now (183 votes), right on the tail of the famous New York City Farmers Market at Union Square (184 votes).

With only 2 more votes we will move a head to number 15!! Thank you for taking us this far, those who have voted and please pass this on to those who may want to support the market. Pls vote (http://www.care2.com/farmers_market_contest/27741/?refer=19673.09.1245419775.628752), if you haven't already, thanks!

To get us to the top 5 we will need about 500/800 votes this week... Think we can do it?? Let's try! The little port that could!!

Farmers' market a howling success

Get it - howling success? Dog? Never mind.

It's was pretty rockin', though. Not only were people buying, buying, buying but they were in groups socializing & etc.

Gee, I hope these people don't mind me using this photo ...

I could go on to comment about Betty the sheep from Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm being there and the baad weather ... but I won't.
