So ... the senior pilot (there are always 2, the pilot-in-training told me) said they could get up to 170 mph, with the pedal to the metal. There were the 2 pilots and 4 other soldiers aboard. What was extra cool was that, after they took off, they were still flying around the area, so when I got home, they were flying over the cottage. I waved and they hovered overhead for a few seconds.
They were all so nice and patient (at the field), answering everybody's questions and joking around. It was a really nice few minutes in time. This bird is a 1979 model, so I don't think I'm giving away any secret technology by publishing the photos. Besides, everyone was taking photos or shooting video.
