Chance to get landfill on Patrick's agenda?

Ron Klodenski makes an excellent point in an email he sent out a while ago - Gov. Patrick's visit to Amesbury next Wed. (6 pm, Upper Millyard Amphitheater) is the perfect opportunity for residents of Newburyport to ask him about the landfill.

Ron provides this sample question, relevant to both our city and to Amesbury (you don't have to be from Amesbury to attend):

What can you do to correct the mismanagement of the Newburyport landfill capping by the Mass DEP and to assure the same fiasco won't occur when the Amesbury landfill is capped? For example, the DEP declared the Newburyport landfill to be covered by Section 21E of Massachusetts state law. This declaration has allowed the landfill owner to bring lawsuits against the city and is diverting city resources from schools, roads and other important infrastructure into legal fees to defend the city. Can you persuade the DEP to rescind its 21E determination at the site?

Here's our chance to get our 2 cents in with the Gov. I'll be there, covering it for Merrimack Valley Magazine.
