Landfill decision postponed to January

Just a quick note because I have to run off to a meeting ...

I did not go to the hearing, and I totally forgot to watch the City Council meeting on cable last night, but Ron Klodenski sent this update around via email this morning:

According to the Newburyport city attorney at last night's city council meeting, the landfill owner's lawsuit contending that his agreement with the city should be declared invalid won't be decided until January, 2009. According to the attorney, the landfill owner asked the Suffolk Superior Court judge yesterday to have the case decided by September, but the judge agreed that the city needs more time to assemble its side of the argument.

That's all we know right now, apparently, unless someone out there knows more!

At least you guys in Newburyport know that much. We, in Everett can't find out any info on what happened with the Wood Waste impending preliminary injunction.

If anyone knows anything we would greatly appreciate it.

You can post it over at:

Thanks,
MassDee,

I'm sorry I don't know anymore than this, MassDee. Everyone seems to be pretty tight-lipped about the Everett side of things. You could try calling Joe Ferson at the DEP - he's their public voice (PR person). Let me know how it goes (he MIGHT tell me, as we have spoken quite a bit in the past and he knows me as a press person).

The Daily news's reporter Stephen Tait is always good on the landfill issues. Someone either on the Hoc Committee or city government must know what happened on Monday. Why no story at all from the daily news, not even about January? Interesting…..

Stephen was on vacation (don't know if he is still) ... the information about deferral to January was reported to the City Council by the city attorney.
