I was driving by the sewer plant this morning, on my way to the laundromat and to run errands, and WOW, what a stink.
I don't think I'd ever noticed a smell there before, but today ... it reminded me of the stench that happened when the guys who hooked this house up to the sewer system were pumping out the septic tank prior to smashing it up.
By the way, I got my hair all cut off (but not as a result of the smell). I miss my hair.

you never noticed a smell there before? consider yourself lucky.
That's another one of those facilities that's usually not part of a downtown. But then, I don't know where else on the river we could put it.
I regularly walk on the old rail line behind the WWTF, and I've never noticed a really bad odor. It stinks, but nothing like the land fill. I never smelled anything like an open septic tank smell. Even better, I've never noticed any odor at my house, and I'm only a couple of blocks up the hill.
If we had lots of money, I'd suggest building a new plant somewhere back near Parker Road on the old rail line, using the rail path to run the pipe to the river. One of the problems with that idea is that I've been told it require all new federal permits, and we'd probably never be allowed to send the effluent into the river.
I think we should take the Audobon Society headquarters by eminent domain and replace it with the sewer plant.
How about Newbury gives us that land by the Refuge that it wants to sell?
I can hear the rangers on the Refuge now - "And over there, to the left of the sewer plant, you'll see a spotted owl, holding its beak ..."
They want out water? Let them give us some land on a river. Isn't this Little River Village on a river, hence the name?
