Landfill

Well, I'm sorry to be reporting this to death, but here's more about the landfill.

This is from today's Current:

Now New Ventures has brought potential proof that the city contaminated the site, showing for the first time Monday night an old memo regarding someone hauling sludge from the city’s sewage treatment plant to the landfill.

Asked if this is new information, Shanley said, “I wouldn’t call it new information, but I’d say the contract I’d seen last night was the first I’d seen any documentation of it.”

Exactly what is "potential proof?" It either is or it isn't, proof being an absolute. (This qualifying an absolute was always a bone of contention between me and the author of this piece.)

Is this the agreement that Larry McCavitt referenced Monday night, that was signed by former Mayor Mary Anne Clancy and never approved by the City Council?

If that's the only "potential proof" that the city contributed to the hazardous nature of the landfill, and New Ventures is in any case not releasing the city from the liability for the sludge, then I still don't see what is the dilemma.

New Ventures always knows the history of the properties when they purchase them. Marcello's kept records that were transfered to the potential new owners when they inspected the property. This issue of 'Dumping' is not new and was acceptable when the property was taken over to produce a profit. Now that it is time to actually preform, the 'News' that there may be some Sewerage Dumping record is SOP for this shyster. The City represent the issue of this owner and his inactions and illegalities in performance of his own actions, not what was known when he agreed to purchase and cap the landfill.
It doesn't seem to be a concern of the council at all the recent litigations threatened to wards this administration, so what is just another legal issue to contend with. Agreements were made and this fool has taken action that has caused life threatening actions against the residents of this city. I say meet him in court and represent the residents for once at all costs. I would be willing to pay a debt exclusion just to see this clown go to jail for what he is pulling as it can be prov en that he knew of this site and all its history and conditions well before he and his companies 'invested' in dumping there.
We will see suits from this administration for many years to come, why stop here? Or P.I. or wrong full dismissal or inaction on job site discrimination and harassment?
Yes, it should bother people when the Mayor mis-speaks, it certainly dos me! Tells me there is way more to the presentation and real story than is being discussed in open forum. A threat of litigation was not delivered, just mentioned.
