I got this photo just now from fellow writer (and owner of The Dragon's Nest toy store downtown) Donna Seim.
She and her husband (I always forget his name) have been touring all the Grand Turk and Caicos Islands reading her children's book, WHERE IS SIMON, SANDY? to all the primary schools and donating a book for each of their libraries.
This trip we took a boat ride with Smitty to Salt Cay. A small island about 30 minutes south of Grand Turk by boat. (Rough waters and all!) There are 76 inhabitants on the island and no cars! This is a picture of the Kindergarten class of 7 girls. They were delightful to read too! I am told that the students that come out of the Salt Cay School do very well due to the excellent teacher/pupil ratio.
Donna is donating the proceeds from the book to the children's program at the Turks and Caicos National Museum.

Martin is her husband's name. And this is a terrific book! Has won the Mom's Choice Gold award and everything, been reviewed by School Library Journal...a MUST have on any child's bookshelf.
Its cold and raining outside, so right now I wish I was at Salt Cay, wading a flat looking for bonefish. That's what I wish.
Dream on, little broomstick cowboy.
Happy holiday weekend from your friends in Everett!
We will be in touch soon. More to come Monday.
So great to see Donna on your blog. Her book is wonderful - very sweet! And the illustrations are stunning. Great for young children.
