I found this an interesting headline on the Daily News website:


Town to lay off workers to close


I wondered what town around here was about to close ... and is that the correct term, "close?"


Turns out it's Amesbury, but it is not closing - it's closing a deficit; or trying to, at any rate.


One person we don't have to worry about, apparently, is our friendly swindler, Bernard Madoff.


According to CNN, his wife pulled $15.5 out of a brokerage firm weeks before his arrest.

I think she should be forced to fork over half the money to Amesbury, and the other half to Newburyport. Because no two places deserve it more.

Why should Amesbury get any? They have AMESTAT, and we don't.

Lets keep the playing field level.
