Roll out the red carpet ... Hey! Come back here with that carpet!


Yes, Sweden's King Carl XVI Gutav will visit the beleaguered city of Flint next month, the Flint Journal announced today. Full story can be read here.

While we are all worried about A-frame signs and bike trails, the king is visiting the potential future site of a biogas plant.

Kettering [University] has been working with state and local officials on plans for Swedish Biogas International of Linkoping to build a plant in Flint.

The biogas plant would convert human waste for use as vehicle fuel and generate heat and electricity.

"He's a cutting edge kind of king," Flint Economic Development Director Suzanne Kayser said.

State officials are being tight-lipped about the king's itinerary (he is also visiting Detroit, to talk with automakers) ... gee, I can't think why!
