Landfill judgment

By the way, I have the full 30-pg. judgment by Judge Lauriat, if anyone wants a copy.

Still have not seen a copy of the elusive agreement between New Ventures/Wood Waste, DEP and Attorney General.

But I'm sure it's a magnificent document.

FYI - look who's taking all the credit for the landfill.

Press Release
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MAYOR GETS JOB DONE, WOOD WASTE TO CLOSE LANDFILL, REMOVE
PILES FROM EVERETT FACILITY

Company to start removing debris out of Everett, expects total removal of piles within
135 days.

Mayor Carlo DeMaria Jr., announced that Wood Waste of Boston, Inc. has reached an
agreement with Attorney General Martha Coakley and the Department of Environmental
Protection. The agreement requires Wood Waste, Inc. to immediately remove the piles of
construction and demolition material (C&D) from the Everett Facility. Since early 2007,
the Mayor vigilantly called upon the state agencies to come together and reach an
agreement, and get the piles out of Everett.

“It’s finally time we have relief to the neighbors, and abutters of the property,” states
Mayor DeMaria, “this took a lot of work on our part, on my part calling the Governor’s
office, talking through the issues with the Lieutenant Governor, constantly working to get
this resolved.”

The Mayor is awaiting official documents from the Attorney General, which outline the
timeline of removal plus conditions to which the debris can be handled. According to the
Attorney General’s office, Wood Waste of Boston, Inc, has 105 days to completely
remove the piles in Everett, and 135 days to remove the remaing pile in Chelsea. The
agreement also outlines certain conditions including proper handling of the debris,
oversight by a privately contracted engineer (paid by Wood Waste, Inc.,) tarping of the
material, dust control, and odor monitoring.

“I’ve been working on this for well over a year,” states Mayor DeMaria, “Every week I
made the phone calls, setup the meetings, trying to get the parties to come together on a resolution. This issue has been an thorn in my side since I took office, and now I’m glad
we’re near the end.”
Representatives from Wood Waste estimate roughly 1000 tons of material leaving the
facility per day.
“We’ll still monitor the operation,” said Mayor DeMaria, “we have no authority over the
DEP, however we’ll all work together to ensure the residents feel as little impact as
possible.”

Mayor DeMaria did caution that he will not be satisfied until the company is in a new
enclosed facility. Wood Waste of Boston, Inc., started removing debris on Friday, May
1st, and plans for a new facility along Route 16 are being examined by the Building
Department and the Health Department.
