How about a farm for $750?

This couple in Michigan had a novel idea: they are running an essay contest, the winner of which will win Jerry and Debra Worley's 5-acre farm, complete with house and barn.

It costs $750 to enter the contest - and of course you have to write a 500-word essay on how the economy has affected your life.

The contest requires the entry fee and the 500-words-or-fewer essay about how the economy has affected your life and how winning the home would change that.

The Worleys and their attorney will pick the winner from the essays.

Yes, there is a little catch: Worley says he needs to get at least 650 entries to proceed with the contest, which ends Aug. 31. If he falls short, he said, all entry fees will be refunded. Worley also has capped the number of entries at 1,000.

With 650 entries, the couple would get $487,500 for a house worth $245,000.

How does this seem to you? The winner of the contest of course would get a $245,000 house for $750. But all the other contestants would lose $750.

What can I raffle off by asking for an essay and $750? My cat?

I got nothing, folks!
