Water works (not)

I guess I can't let this one go. I read the story in the daily, but I did not attend the City Council meeting nor did I see a replay of the meeting, if there was one, on local access cable.

The only thing that struck me, besides how did this city keep going so long with such lackadaisical fee collection methods, is this:

Is it not a conflict of interest for Tom O'Brien to be airing his issues with the water department as a City Councillor (official spelling) when his daughter works in the department?

I don't know the answer to the question - that's why I'm asking. If I was still being paid for being a reporter, I would have found out before writing this. Maybe someday soon I will, as a member of my writer's group put it, commercialize myself. Then I can pay myself to run around and provide answers.

I don't know the answer either but I was thinking the same thing.

The conflict truly arises if a budget request related to the water department is before the Council and O'Brien doesn't excuse from the room.
