Allison and I speak

I just had occasion to call Mayor Kezer's office in Amesbury and Allison Heartquist answered the phone.

Before I got down to the reason why I was calling, we spoke about the comments I made on here and I told her in detail what I wrote this morning - that she was elected, fair and square, and that she is now a member of the City Council (representing me) and that's that, as far as I'm concerned.

Of course, now that she's a public figure, she's under even more scrutiny, but ah, well ...

I had intended to call her at home, but since I had the opportunity to explain myself ... Well, I'm glad I took it and I'm happy to report her gracious suggestion that we start afresh.

Now what am I going to do about the anonymous commenter who wants me to investigate the controversial campaign contribution?

Well, Butch Frangipane says right here in the Daily News that it was his personal check and not a company check ... without him actually producing the canceled check, I don't know what else I can do. But I'll think on it.

I'm really looking forward to the new City Council.

You could say to the "anonymous commenter": "Sorry, Larry, you lost the election. Let it go."

it seems to me he would produce the check to the DN if in fact he wrote it. the fact that hearquist's treasurer refused to look for the records speaks volumes...also, if the mr. frangipane made the donation via the marina without Karp's approval, i would think he'd be looking for a new job. all the more reason to cover it up.

I find it a bit disgusting that a few sore losers continue to engage in a smear campaign against a successful daughter-father campaign team. The voters have spoken, it's time to move on.

This is daughter-father? Who's the father, the guy who did the finances? I think it may have been just a clerical error; but knowing McCavitt and his wife, you can be sure that they are now on the case.

Unless I hear something really substantive and substantiated, I'm not touching it any more than I have.

P.S. Bubba, if the law was broken, you don't want that known?

The father was the senior citizen who walked the ward with her - it's a great story.

Perhaps someone should investigate Mr McCavitt's election day activities. Entering and loitering inside a polling place would seem to be a far more serious matter.

Ah, well ... one last micro-shot at the poor woman ... if she'd responded to the Current's calls for an interview, it would indeed have been a good story for people to read. Or if someone (you, for instance) had mentioned it ... was it in the Daily News?

And yeah, isn't hanging about illegal, too?

Well perhaps now that you've started fresh and moved beyond taking shots (micro or otherwise).

You can hang at 150 ft - being inside the polling station with voters is a whole different story.

If only there was some sort of evidence ... in any case, I'll be seeing him in an hour, at the special city council meeting (if he shows up).

Bubba doesn't make statements of fact without evidence - it was reported in the competition.
