What the ... ?

A skull and crossbones flying over the landfill? Well yeah, says the Daily News (and people's eyes).

At-Large Councilor Tom Jones said yesterday he can see the flag from his house and that it was put up following an article in the newspaper reporting that the state Attorney General's office is seeking a contempt order against New Ventures, the owner and operator of the landfill, for failing to meet the terms of a preliminary injunction.
I'm not sure of the significance of this move. Maybe it was the guy with the gun, who was a few weeks ago seen in the vicinity of the landfill.

That has Billy written all over it. Should have been his face on the flag. Now supposedly we have a man running around the landfill with a gun, just days before scheduled public hearing in Everett. Now, after the injunction filed by the DEP, we have crossbones and skulls hanging over the landfill. There are also stories going around Everett of retaliation, and I believe one person filed a report with the State Police, they would not go to Everett Police. Also, with the Long Island Police snooping around, I would say this is not a good person to do business dealings with. Newburyport and Everett should both be done with him. Don't let him get any further in both cities.

If Thibeault did this or had it done, he is a very mentally ill person.

Thanks, anonymous 1 & 2, but what message is it conveyng?

That is a message to the people of Newburyport that Thibeault gets what he wants, when he wants it.

I hope the Newburyport Police are investigating. Billy may think it's funny, but it's not. He likes to play games and send encrypted messages. If I was Mayor Moak, I would not downplay that. A "Flagpole"??? Who else has the means (and audacity) to do that, right after the injunction was filed. Maybe Newburyport should turn this over to the state police, I would take that as a threat, and check your cameras around the city.

A skull and crossbones is a symbol of a human skull and two bones crossed together under the skull. Today, it is generally used as a warning of danger.

I remember Newburyport was supposed to get financial help from the Governor concerning the landfill. Did anyone follow through with that or is that still in the process?
